and, indeed, it was a good day from start to finish.....Silas woke up excited about the prospect of going to school in Pop's truck.......
yes, the jacket was warranted as it was 26 degrees when they left for school!
while he was at school Cora and I prepped the cookie dough for Christmas cookies and she is of the opinion that the sprinkles containers make the best shakers/noisemakers! We quite agree!
when she tired of that, she and Pop arranged magnetic people on the dishwasher......
Soon after Silas got home and we'd eaten lunch, he was 'rollin' in dough.' He said his favorite part was clapping his hands together and making the confectioner's sugar 'go everywhere'......uh, yeah, this will come as no surprise to mom and dad, right?
Pop showed him how to measure and cut the parchment for the first pan and then he did the second on his own......with a little encouragement from sis.
He decorated trees, bells, holly sprigs, and stars for his teachers (and wrote their names on cards) and even a few for us and mom and dad....... check out that intent facial expression.....this was serious business, let me tell ya!
and lo and behold, there were even some surprise cookies for which we hadn't had cookie cutters. He exclaimed, "I'm not giving THOSE away!"
Today turned out to be a good afternoon for the promised 'movie party'....Pop snagged "Brave" from Blockbuster and we all settled in for a good time......with popcorn and rootbeer floats!
When I snapped this, Cora had an absolutely delightful look of glee on her face.....but that 'speedy miss' switched to 'deer in the headlights' with lightening speed......so you'll just have to trust me on this.
nitey-nite;)
