new experiences.....making memories

Well, for a day it has felt like winter has returned to T-town.  Yes, that was sleet that was hitting the windshield as we drove to the Children's Museum for a much anticipated visit!  And since we arrived slightly before the doors were open we drove around the property, pausing briefly by a pond to feed the geese and ducks (from the warmth and safety of the car).  The hungry and curious feathered friends gathered quickly on Silas's side of the car, much to both kids' delight!

Silas had a 'hey day' in the uniquely crafted tubes of
what appeared to be  stretchy durable visqueen.

Soon he added twists and turns.
He delighted in sliding down the
final tube, gaining speed each time.

Often he headed down
'head first'.

Pop and Cora explored the puzzles in the toddler area.

Cora delighted in sending balls down ramps and through tubes.

At last, light switches she could reach....
off and on and off and on and so many fun colors!

The shape puzzle was a hit!

Silas tried out a xylophone made of cooking pot lids.

They both enjoyed sending balls up through vacuum
tubes and watching them travel through.

Cora didn't know what to think of building
blocks that were bigger than she was!

And she may still be pondering how these balls
stayed playfully balancing on a continuous stream
of air coming out of these tubes.

Silas got 'camera shy' when he was
exploring a magnet activity.

Everyone participated in making and watching their own movie.

Silas and Pop built the coolest gear display.....and
it really worked!!!!

On the way home, Silas started talking about his upcoming family camping trip to Arkansas and how they were going to need some fire starters.  So when we got home, we harvested some dryer lint and cardboard egg cartons from our composting materials, melted some candle wax, and he assembled a dozen or so pretty nifty fire starter cups for the trip.

We ended the day with some pretty cozy theatre seating
for a rainy day showing of Despicable Me 2.

Nitey-nite;)
